In everyday medical practice, skills such as critical (self-) reflection, professional empathy, differentiated comprehension, pronounced tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty as well as creative out-of-the-box thinking can have decisive effects. However, the promotion of these competencies is often neglected in medical education and training - not least because it represents a particular methodological and didactic challenge. This volume brings together corresponding solutions from practice, which are based on the concepts of narrative medicine according to Rita Charon, and is aimed at readers who are interested in other approaches to medical education and training. The focus is on the practical use of literary and artistic works as well as methods of image, film or text analysis, individual writing, joint discussion and reflection.
