The current pastoral discussion opens up to new tasks and questions. Old positions between preaching and therapeutic pastoral care are relativized. It is important to grasp everyday pastoral care mechanisms, to take up the social and historical relevance of pastoral care, the problem of cultural plurality, questions of ethics and spirituality and to clarify how pastoral care specialists and lay people can work together.
