This book introduces us to his life story which is equally as fascinating as that of other who make a political virtue of their humble origins. In Dr Choubey's case, however, these humble origins have been transformed into the service of the nation in highly techno-managerial sector and in defence of the usually denigrated public sector that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had conceived as the bulwark of the nation's industry and infrastructure. The "modern temples of India" were to be erected by the public sector. His systematic exposition of what he calls the "Untold Story" of our Public Sector Enterprises is, therefore, especially timely and, if taken seriously, could lead to that resurgence in PSEs which might yet pull us out of the current stagnation in manufacturing that is sucking into quicksand our hope of making our country prosperous and ensuring remunerative employment to the millions of young men and women who are joining the ranks of those seeking to contribute to the building of our modern nation. Even now, if this prescriptions are listed to, the public sector can re-emerge as a giant on its own, competing with the private sector and yet serving larger national goals than merely propping up the bottom-line of a balance sheet.
