Alert Henry (Al) Lund served as a distinguished Staff Sergeant of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, retiring from the RCMP in 1988.

"Often with his close friend and fellow Mountie, Bill Hulgaard, Al criss-crossed Canada and the United States, scouring used bookstores, while stopping at Mountie memorials and historic points of interest, always keeping an eye out for new treasures. The age of the internet allowed him to target those areas of his collection that required completion. In total, he amassed a collection of over 9,000 individual items, a feat that will likely not be repeated.
