Drawing on his Latvian heritage, Balodis explores the relationships and experiences, over a period of 45 years, of a group of young Latvians who emigrate to North Queensland. While they come to terms with a harsh new life; recognise, some 20 years later, the impossibility of returning to the old; and in the 1990s observe their offspring exploring their origins, there is a parallel story of struggle in an unknown land. The plays in this trilogy are -- Too Young for Ghosts (2 acts, 6 man, 3 women); No Going Back (2 acts, 6 men, 4 women); My Father's Father (2 acts, 6 men, 4 women).
