Noise Free America: A Coalition to Promote Quiet is the nation’s most prominent anti-noise organization, focusing on excessive noise from motorcycles, loud car stereos, and leaf blowers. Noise Free America has dozens of chapters in around 25 states, and its memebers conduct anti-noise public education campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels. The organization provides an Ask an Expert service, with advice to the public from a noise control engineer and a former Houston police officer. Noise Free America: A Coalition to Promote Quiet issues a monthly Noisy Dozen press release, highlighting excessive noise in a community, business, or industry, or by an individual. Noise Free America has been featured in more than 350 media stories, including on 20/20, CNN, and NPR, as well as in 'Time' magazine, the 'New York Times', and the 'Washington Post'. The organization’s web site contains numerous noise ordinances, a model noise ordinance, radio public service announcements, sample letters, and a manual on How to Fight Noise.
