Designed to be read with a buddy, this dialogue between an aardvark and a mouse contains only kindergarten or first-grade words, making it a unique first reading book. Sentences are short, with lots of repetition for reinforcement and to build reading confidence. Early childhood specialist and former Romper Room teacher "Miss Karen" believes that reading should be easy and fun, and that reading with a buddy brings pleasure to young children. Recalling the classic children's book The Little Engine that Could, this story encourages beginning readers to believe in themselves. They will want to read it over and over again, and will be proud to say "I can read!"
Karen Robbins is an award-winning children's author with more than 300,000 copies of books in print. She grew up in a patriotic family with her father and brother, who served in the U.S.M.C. Karen co-authored the adult book, Flags Across America, and the children's Think! series. She lives in Gig Harbor, Washington where she writes, crafts, and designs books and toys for children. Jeff James has over a decade of experience illustrating, producing award-winning packaging, and designing exhibits for retail and museum displays. In 2009, after moving to Seattle, he earned recognition from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. He lives near New York City with his wife and daughter.

A well-structured and deceptively simple dose of encouragement for emerging readers. Kirkus Reviews
Unlike other, wordier, you readI read stories, this one is sweet and super short, leaving no excuse to forgo a quick, shared story. Lisa Taylor, Florida State College, Jacksonville
I Think I Can is an easy-to-follow children's picturebook designed especially to be read aloud with two people. Each two-page spread shows the aardvark speaking on the left in blue text, and the mouse speaking on the right in black text. The simple dialogue between an aardvark and a mouse uses brief sentences with repetition, the better to build confidence in the youngest of beginning readers."'Yes. I think I can sing.' / 'What do you think you can sing?' / 'I think I can sing a song.' / 'You think you can sing a song?'" A superb tool to encourage new readers, I Think I Can is highly recommended for family, elementary school, and public library picturebook collections. -- Midwest Book Review, Children's Bookwatch
