This is Patience Wheatley's first published collection of poetry. Wheatley's writing is characterised by a powerful imaginative intelligence; she weaves together literary associations and responses to more immediate experience with an attractive assurance of tone.
Patience Wheatley was born in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, England, and came to Canada at the age of fifteen. Her first two collections of poetry were published by Goose Lane Editions.
