Older people remain mobile longer and will consequently take more active part in road traffic. The number of older road users will thus increase significantly. Are older road users at risk or dangerous? Again and again this question causes controversy. This volume creates a clear and at the same time differentiated picture of the road participation of older people. The contributions give a problem-related overview of the state of knowledge of a highly differentiated research area. Age-related deficits, compensation mechanisms and prevention options are discussed for the various types of road participation and suggestions for future road safety work are compiled with practical examples.
