Al-Gazali (10581111) is considered to be one of the most influential and powerful Muslim thinkers and scholars produced by the Islamic tradition of science. His research encompassed wide fields, as can also be understood from the diversity of his work with references to selected theological disciplines and the associated discourses. Many of his works are still received today and deal with philosophy, speculative theology, kalām, the fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh, up to questions of ethics, logic and the taṣawwuf. This diversity is reflected in the scholarly discussion of al-Ġazālī, as this volume is able to show.
