Melissa Bubnic is a playwright and screenwriter from Melbourne. She is a recipient of commissions and prizes from Arts Victoria, Ian Potter Cultural Trust, La Mama, Transport Accident Commission's ‘Make a Film, Make a Difference' competition, Platform Youth Theatre and the Children's Literature Board of Australia. She attended the 2007 World Interplay Playwrights' Festival as one of nine Australian delegates. Her play Beached (dir. Anthony Clark) had a reading at Soho Theatre in June 2010 and has since won the 2010 Patrick White Award from the Sydney Theatre Company. Another of her plays, Emoticon, was the winner of the Write Now 3 competition at the Brockley Jack Studio in London.
