In a small church in rural Wiltshire a stained glass memorial window commemorates the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force 'other ranks' who were stationed at RAF Hullavington during World War II Schoolgirls of the Great Depression they were uprooted from their peaceful lives and proved their mettle in a variety of technical trades, taking on roles traditionally reserved for men.
