Isabelle Chwalka analyses comparatively chronicles and annals from 12th-century England and Germany regarding their views towards the Reich and towards 12th century England. Reconsidering the influence of political, social and cultural constellations on the historians, she examines their view(s) about others and the interdependency between conceptions and perceptions. As a result, the author reaches an reassessment of the historical perception of persons like Henry V as well as of political events like the Alexandrine schism or king Richard’s I captivity.
