The contributions in this volume shed light on the processes and transformations of mythical female figures and the mythification of real-historical women in contemporary texts and identity-political discourses. The focus of the contributions lies on individual Arbeiten am Mythos (based on Hans Blumenberg), which selected authors carry out in their dramas, poems, novels and films – the attribution of agency, the addition of a voice for formerly subalterns, the Politicization of certain mythical subjects, the juxtaposition of different figures to a new mythical projection figure – and the question of how these de-, re- and unmythifications in postmodernism relate to a constantly changing cultural memory.
