The book describes the history of the Viennese ports before the expansion of Albern into a grain port from 1938 is examined. The decision-making processes among the (NS) actors play a role here, as does the use of forced labor. The construction and operation of an oil port and the Oder-Danube Canal during the Nazi era in the Lobau with the massive use of people who were forced to work and their individual fates are also focal points. A look at the post-war period from occupation to state treaty and a statistical evaluation of the sources of forced labor form the conclusion.
