He has also participated in research expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic, thus becoming the first head of state to reach both poles.

Todd Wilkinson is an American journalist and author. He is the founder of Mountain Journal, and his work has appeared in a variety of publications, ranging from National Geographic and The Christian Science Monitor to The Washington Post. He is the author of several books, including Last Stand: Ted Turners Quest to Save a Troubled Planet and Grizzlies of Pilgrim Creek: An Intimate Portrait of 399, the Most Famous Bear of Greater Yellowstone. Todd lives in Bozeman, Montana, USA.
