A community with healthy children who grow up to be healthy individuals, is likely to develop into a productive and prosperous society. Tracing the evolution and development of health services in Pakistan, this work analyses the causes of the failure of health planning and services and critiques its elitist character and slide. It goes on to give a plan for the future and underlines the fact that an equitable health service is not only a moral compulsion but also a successful development strategy.
